It’s been many years since I’ve had any type of jam. I would sometimes have strawberry jam for breakfast and really enjoyed it. But as I got older, I found it was getting too sweet for me, so I stopped having it. It was a bit like tea: I used to take it with milk and a teaspoon of sugar, but now I just have it black with no sugar.
When I saw this banana jam on Amazon for £7.99, I was immediately intrigued, as I like a banana now and again. Memories of having strawberry jam on toast with a cup of tea came flooding back, and I wanted to relive those enjoyable breakfasts with this jam I had never seen before in supermarkets.

I toasted a couple of slices of bread and spread the jam on thickly, as instructed on the jar. I was expecting it to taste like mushed-up bananas, but it had an unusual taste. I looked at the ingredients and noticed it had lemon juice, which must have been the reason why it tasted so odd. It was overpowering the banana flavour, which I didn’t like.
And for £7.99, I thought it was very expensive, especially when the jar was half-empty after spreading it on a couple of slices of toast. I’m guessing it would be a lot cheaper if the jam was sold in UK supermarkets.
Devoured or Disappointed?
Disappointed👎
The banana jam tasted quite odd, most likely because of the lemon juice. I think it would have been much better if it weren’t so overpowering. And I don’t think the price justifies the amount of jam you get.
